About Us

Ian Sloan

According to Merseyside Police, if spotted in public you should not approach Ian unless you are giving out free drinks. His criminal record is 17 (official Guinness Records). Ian has written a lot of other things, including articles in The Continuum, The Liverpool Echo, Writers Digest and Plays for The Oxton Players. He is looking forward to releasing some of his other writing soon, look out for his shopping lists!

Ian was born in October 1966, exactly 20 days before Howard – he had to get in first! From writing and acting in school, he knew he wanted nothing to do with the working stiff life and has spent the last 40 odd (very odd) years trying to escape from it.

Some people have spread a rumour that Ian is actually a lizard, a rumour that gained more prominence when Ian described himself as one in the introductions to the first three Inspector Morose books. Ian has nothing to say on the subject.

Howard White

Born in 1966 in the Oxford district of Liverpool, Howard White has been working in public transport since 1992, after failing to find graduate level work, and finding that teaching wasn’t all it was cranked up to be.
Since leaving Exeter University, he has managed to avoid any hint of working in a graduate environment ever since, in an attempt to avoid having to pay back any student loan costs to “that bunch of fascists at the bank”.
He has been writing for fun since the age of 7. He found that by adding comic paper jokes into the creative writing stories in class, and then adding bits from The Goodies and Mike Yarwood to make it more up to date, not only the other pupils but also the teacher, would laugh. Since discovering the free-fall comedy of radio in his teens, and the cutting edge of the shock stand – up comedians in more recent years, the anarchist streak found expression in his writings with Ian Sloan, giving them a flavour of not only Spike Milligan and Mike Bentine, but also Viz and Frankie Boyle.

A quiet, reserved man in private, he is also to be found in the not – so – quiet or reserved world of punk and thrash metal, whose other interests are drumming, cricket, the two World Wars, beagles, and world religions.
